Acoustic test cabin
Ideal for diffuse-field sound absorption (NRC, SAA, Aw) and transmission loss (Rw, STC) of small size samples.
Description
Mecanum’s acoustic test cabin (alpha cabin) measures diffuse-field sound absorption (NRC, SAA, Aw) and transmission loss (Rw, STC) of small size samples between 250 and 10 000 Hz. Both tests run in a single setup, which makes it an efficient tool for research and development, quality control, supplier validation, and benchmarking. Originally developed for automotive OEMs and suppliers, it is now used just as widely to evaluate building insulation and soundproofing materials. It follows ASTM C423, SAE J2883, and ISO 15186.

Software
Alpha-X
Alpha-X guides you through diffuse-field sound absorption measurement in a single, intuitive window. Its robust TR60 slope-detection algorithm extracts absorption automatically and consistently, whoever runs the test, and you refine the post-processing on the spot with intuitive cursors, switching between time-data and Schroeder-integration views as needed. Air dissipation is corrected automatically per ANSI/ASA S1.26, a detail that matters for high-frequency precision, and NRC, SAA, and αw display directly. One click produces a standards-compliant Excel report with everything the norms require.
TL-X
TL-X takes you through diffuse-field transmission loss measurement in the same straightforward single-window design. It keeps you confident in your data with a live PI-Index display of measurement quality, shows STC and Rw directly, and lets you compare projects and compute insertion loss with built-in tools. As with Alpha-X, a one-click Excel report gives you clean, standards-ready documentation.
SONOCAM
SONOCAM’s software helps you get the transmission setup right before you measure. Its acoustic-camera leak finder captures images during sample installation, so you can confirm the seal is airtight and install every sample the correct way, every time.

SONOCAM: Now included with your cabin
Every acoustic test cabin now includes SONOCAM, a portable acoustic camera that overlays a real-time acoustic image on wide-angle HD video.
With 16 microphones and 24 ready-to-use detection modes (gas leaks, mechanical noise, impact, voice), SONOCAM quickly locates leaks, resonances, and weak points on samples and assemblies tested in the cabin.
