Asphalt impedance tube
Ideal for measuring the sound absorption of road surfaces in situ, according to ISO 13472-2.
Description
Mecanum’s asphalt impedance tube measures the sound absorption of road surfaces in situ over the 250 to 1600 Hz third-octave range, according to ISO 13472-2. Above roughly 30 km/h, rolling noise dominates urban traffic sound, and sound-absorbing pavements are an effective countermeasure, but their acoustic performance fades over time. The tube lets professionals monitor asphalt mixes in a fast, standardized way, pinpointing the sections that need maintenance or renewal to keep noise pollution down and residents’ comfort up.

Software
Tube-X
Through an intuitive single-window interface, Tube-X guides you through normal-incidence road sound absorption measurement, helping you capture the physics at the precision you need for simulation and optimization, clear and easy to use from the first measurement. Create test-campaign templates to automate large measurement sets without missing a step, and use advanced tools, averaging, smoothing, project comparison, to take the measurement further. A one-click, ISO-ready Excel report gives you clear, professional documentation.
Applications
Accessories
Optional accessories, available with your asphalt impedance tube or separately.
Weather station
The weather station measures the ambient temperature, pressure, and humidity at the moment of testing, the atmospheric conditions that influence the speed of sound and, in turn, your acoustic results. Logging them alongside each measurement keeps your data accurate and traceable.
