Impedance tube testing
We measure normal-incidence sound absorption (NSAC) and transmission loss (NSTL) of your materials, with high-resolution data from 35 Hz to 10 kHz.
Description
Fast, precise analysis of your material’s acoustic properties by impedance tube. Mecanum measures the normal sound absorption coefficient and normal sound transmission loss across a wide frequency range, from 35 Hz to 10 kHz, to support material development, quality control, and product certification. Reliable impedance tube data is the foundation on which sound absorption, insulation, and overall acoustic performance are optimized.
Our methods
Conventional impedance tube
Standard normal-incidence absorption and transmission loss on small samples, the versatile workhorse for most materials.

Square impedance tube
Square cross-section testing for acoustic metamaterials and non-conventional geometries.

High-frequency impedance tube
Absorption measurement up to 10 kHz, the high-frequency range typical of electric motors and eVTOL propulsion.

High-level impedance tube
Setups for extreme environments, including aircraft engine liners, at sound pressure levels up to 150 dB.

Custom setups
Unique configurations such as grazing-incidence excitation or other bespoke test setups for demanding requirements.
