Porosity and density meter
Mecanum’s porosity and density meter is a pycnometer that measures the open porosity and true bulk density of open-cell porous materials. It applies the isothermal pressure/mass method from the scientific literature: by weighing a sample under different pressure levels and applying the ideal gas law, it retrieves the volume of the solid phase, and from it the bulk density and open porosity. Both are key parameters governing the acoustic effectiveness of absorbing materials, which makes the porosity and density meter well suited to end-of-line quality control, supplier validation, and new material development.

PHI-X
Measuring porosity involves several steps, and PHI-X controls each of them, guiding you through the experiment for precise, repeatable results in a smooth workflow, clear enough to be productive from the first use. The software computes your sample’s volume for you and lets you combine samples, and it handles measurement with either argon gas, more precise but less convenient, or compressed air, less precise but more convenient, so you can match the method to your needs. A one-click Excel report turns the results into clear, professional documentation.

Optional accessories, available with your porosity and density meter or separately.
Circular knife
The circular knife lets you cut clean, repeatable sample geometries from porous materials, so each specimen fits the tube precisely and edge effects stay minimal. Consistent sample preparation is one of the simplest ways to improve measurement repeatability.
Material slicer
The material slicer holds a porous sample firmly in place while you cut it to thickness, giving you flat, parallel faces and a controlled height. It removes much of the guesswork from preparing soft or compressible materials that are otherwise hard to slice evenly.
